2019 Taipei Game Show Enters TWTC Hall 3 For the First Time



The Taipei Game Show (TGS) held in January this year was a huge success, attracting tens of thousands participation from game industry and players and stimulating more business exchanges than previous years. This size of the participation demonstrated the maturity and stability of the gaming market in Taiwan. The schedule for the 2019 TGS is officially announced today: from January 24th to 28th. The B2B ZONE will be kicked off on January 24th and 25thnext year and showcased at Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Hall 3 for the first time. The B2C ZONE will take place from January 25th to 28th at TWTC Hall 1.

2018 TGS organized by Taipei Computer Association had a total of 1,937 exhibitors and 350,000 public visitors, receiving 2,400 news coverage worldwide. The B2B ZONE attracted 2,361 trade visitors from 29 countries including Japan, China, South Korea and the U.S. to seek business opportunities and cooperation. Game developers, publishers and the rising digital media advertisers were the majority of the trade visitors. The Asia Pacific Game Summit (APGS) held in a total of 20 sessions within two days attracting more than 2,000 audiences, featured the eSport Ecosystem Panel and Player’s Orientation for both industry enthusiasts and professional wanna-be. In response of the increasing number of exhibitors and trade visitors, the B2B ZONE and APGS will move to TWTC Hall 3 in 2019 for the much needed show spaces.

Taiwan Ranks No.1 in Asia Game Market as Important Platform for Launching New Products
TGS has been an important product launching platform for world renowned companies. In particular, the exclusive on-site Chinese-language version launches, bundle specials and the latest peripheries products launching, driving players aged from 19 to 29 came to the site. According to official survey, more than 60% of players make purchase on site, and more than 50% of players spend 3-5 hours on site for trial plays, the exciting show stages and producers or voice actors/actresses meetups. The enthusiasm and high purchasing power of Taiwanese players have drawn attention to Japanese and Korean companies. TGS first-timers such as Cygames, Square Enix and Wonder Planet all massively invested in the Taiwanese market this year as it is the outposts to other Asian markets.

Taiwan Goes Global with Locally-produced Games
As the center of the Asia gaming market, TGS has been proactively cooperating with other international exhibitions. In this May, TGS has led Taiwan delegation with 7 Taiwanese indie teams and game companies to showcase in BitSummit(Japan) and PlayX4(Korea), and all of the delegates received great attention from local media and players. TGS will also head to BIC FEST(Korea), GSTAR(Korea), Tokyo Game Show(Japan), GameStart(Singapore), ESGS(Philippine) and Level Up(Malaysia) in the coming second half of the year. Through participating exhibitions and tradeshows, TGS aims to draw more game developers to join TGS next year while enhancing the competitiveness of Taiwanese self-develop games.
