Tactical RPG Wartales Expands with Massive Free Update, Out Now on PC

Wartales, the medieval open-world tactical RPG with more than one million units sold from developer Shiro Games, readies for battle on PC with the launch of a gigantic Community Update 7. The free update introduces new features, systems, and quality-of-life improvements all driven by community feedback.

Set out on a life of crime in “The Lair,” a new hub location for mercenaries who have run afoul of the law. Community Update 7 expands options for the Crime and Chaos playstyles, so steal and rob enough to warrant a high enough level of suspicion, then visit informants to learn of The Lair’s whereabouts. Once the warband is set up in its new hideout, disreputable crews can fence stolen goods, take on criminal bounties, outfit themselves with exclusive new weapons, or reduce their suspicion levels as required.
 

The update also adds depth and options to Wartales’ prisoner system. Prisoners now have a dedicated skill tree, as well as needs and desires dictated by their specific traits. Warchiefs have greater direct control over captives while in camp and in combat, and prisoners have new hidden objectives that can be revealed and used to influence their trust level.

 

Community Update 7 goes well beyond Crime and Chaos. New player-requested features introduced in the update include a new “End Round” button that skips the turns of every unit that hasn’t acted yet - and it can be canceled at any time. Character sheets have been redesigned, with information split across three tabs to improve readability and organization.
 

This huge update also includes:
 

• Three new armor sets to buy – or steal – from wandering merchants
• Six new battle maps across Alazar, Harag, Gosenberg and Edoran
• Personal mercenary quests for individual characters
• Numerous QoL improvements and bug fixes

 

Wartales players on Xbox can also rejoice, because console warbands can now venture into the dark and forboding Weald in Wartales - Expansion: The Curse of Rigel! Home to the mysterious Sylve Forest, much of County Rigel is covered in a forest canopy so dense that sunlight never reaches the ground. Investigate a series of brutal murders and fend off corrupted predators, all while maintaining the party’s dwindling light – and sanity.

Wartales’ Community Update 7 is available now as a free download to all players. As part of a Steam Midweek sale, Wartales’ base game is available at a 72% discount with up to 35% off all of its DLC. Additionally, Wartales - Expansion: The Curse of Rigel is now available on the Xbox Store.
