TRISM 2 , LONG-AWAITED SEQUEL TO EARLY IOS MEGA HIT GAME TRISM, LAUNCHES IN CELEBRATION OF THE APP STORE’S 10TH ANNIVERSARY

Ten years ago today Apple introduced its App Store, providing iPhone owners easy access to 500 apps, and game developers a way monetize on the mobile platform. Among the various launch titles was an innovative Match-3 indie game from unknown bank software programmer that utilized the touch-slide mechanic and the phone’s accelerometer to deliver addictively fun puzzle gameplay. Trism shot to the top of the charts, capturing industry awards and critical acclaim, turning developer Steve Demeter into a media darling, and earning more than $250,000 in revenue in the first two months. The game would go on to sell more than 3 Million units to date.

In honor of the App Store’s tenth anniversary, Demeter’s game development studio, Demiforce, LLC, has launched the long-awaited sequel, Trism 2, available for download today on the iPhone and iPad for $2.99 USD.

Like its predecessor, Trism 2 features colorful triangular ‘Trisms’ that must be matched and cleared in progressively challenging levels. Unlike the first game, Trism 2 features the anthropomorphous shapes in a fully interactive-environment, following a narrative world-saving story with branching sub-quests, multiple endings and episodic content. The puzzles have new enemies, skills, and twists, while the areas in between can be explored for items and other surprises.

Also like the original game, Trism 2 has been developed by Demeter in his spare time as a passion project. Following the whirlwind success of the first game, he took some time to figure out what he wanted to do, worked in partnership with other developers and publishers on other titles, and eventually accepted a job at FOXNex, a division of 21st Century Fox, where he is director of engineering. All the while he designed, re-designed and reiterated on Trism 2 with the goal of delivering both a game that’s deeper than the original or, as Demeter has called it, a game the fans deserve.

“Creating the sequel was never about a quick cash grab or doing just more of the same,” explained Demeter. “For me, it was important that the game reflect the thought and care of the first game and then take it someplace new. I think all the time, iteration cycles, self-reflection and growth were necessary to get to place where the I could deliver something that honored the fans and resulted in my feeling I’d done what I set out to do with the game. In the short term, I’ll be working on the DLC content, but I have a huge backlog of game ideas and can’t wait to get started exploring them.”

The upcoming premium game is available worldwide today on the App Store for $2.99 USD. Subsequent DLC content will be released for free at a future date. For more information and to receive updates on the game, visit Trism2.com or follow @Trism2 on Twitter and Facebook.
